Folks thanks for accepting me to the forum. I am an old guy, 69, but relative new to fishing. I have moved around the country quite a bit and have always taken advantage of the hunting opportunities various places had to offer. Growing up in WV I of course started off on squirrels then, fortunately, progressed to birddogs. As I moved around and the dogs pasted I became a big game hunter; plenty of deer and turkey then traveling for elk. The mountains still call but it is getting harder to answer. Through all those years I dabbled in fishing. While in SC I got to where I could catch a bass on a plastic worm. I have caught trout here in VA and WV on spinners, Crappie and bream on minnows and worms, but I never understood how or why I caught some one day and none another. Now i am leaning more and more to fishing and being a catch and eat type am focusing on crappie. I find bass too sporty to kill especially smallmouth, catfish too fishy to eat; but put a walleye in the boat or at least three crappie and they are going home. Only trouble is I don't know how to catch crappie or why I caught the odd ones I do. I am fishing for knowledge as much as fish. So, I have lots of questions and I hope you have lots of patience.
