    Default Saying hello from oregon

Been a lurking member for awhile now and have learned a ton. I have always loved crappie fishing even though I am surrounded by salmon, steelhead, and trout. My largest crappie to date is an 18" white that I caught several years ago here in the willamette valley where I live. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of fisherman in my area that target crappie except for maybe right during spawn, then everybody loves them for a couple weeks. Due to regulations here we can only use up to two poles in certain cases. But I am trying to take some of the techniques I see here and make them work. There is no reason why pulling crankbaits for example should not work here in oregon. I read in one of the threads that a plug called a hotshot works great if you can find them, well here almost every store carries them cause there mainly used for steelhead and salmon but if you want bandits you just about have to order them. Guess I just wanted to say thanks and when I connect I will post some pictures. Don't get me wrong I am catching some fish just having a tough time learning a couple new bodies of water and don't have a lot of local fisherman to learn with.

Welcome from SC. I just left Oregon Tuesday. Was fishing with friends who live on the coast. (See my post on home page) My buddy who live there now got me started crappie fishing in Georgia many years ago. He has not fished for freshwater fish since he moved there in 1995 so I can't offer any hints from him.
