Hi everyone. New Member from Big Thicket area of East Texas, live almost equal distance between Sam Rayburn and Sabine Lake. Have been having great luck on the crappie the last 10-15 years which has made me an very lazy fisherman for other species. Truck has been packed since Feb 17th trying to get to camp and out on the water, but have been much too busy at work to take a day to go. Plan on going for a week next week on Rayburn. Hope your trips are fruitful!

Welcome from Indiana
We have a cabin on the south end of Toledo Bend. Do you fish for crappie much on Toledo?
Glenn, I have not in recent years, but I did so in the past. I had the use of a place at Indian Creek off 255 years ago and had some luck there. Had an A-10 roll in and make a mock run on me one time while fishing up against the rip-rap down on the Toledo dam there. AWESOME! He pulled up so late he barely cleared the dam. He got so close I could see detail in the cockpit. Being the son of a Marine Corsair pilot...I loved it!
I love Torpedo Bend even more than Rayburn. It is so vast! Take Six Mile: a man could pick one secondary bay off this arm of the Bend and fish it the rest of his life...and never figure it out completely. Rayburn? I've been watching a flasher/paper graph/finder as I boated around it since 1974. South of the 147 bridge I know its bottom contours like the back of my hand. Little mystery left there for me. But Toledo? Its allure shall give purpose to my retirement years. And I am one of only a few of my friends who has not destroyed a lower unit there! Yet...
You do any good there on the slabs?
