    Default Reel--Crappie Jigging Pole

What type reel do you recommend on a 12' crappie jigging pole.
Also, is 12' kind of in the middle and a good length.
I have seen some 16' and a couple that were 10'

I fish out of a boat or kayak 100% or the time...

Really just comes down to what you are comfortable with. I use mostly spinning reels but also have a couple underspins and the little baitcasters are very popular for jigging poles and trollin. I have even seen some using those automatic fly reels for jigging poles and considering getting me one to try.

If all you are ever going to do is use it for a Jig pole and not casting any of the cheap plastic line holder reels will work. I have underpins on a couple,WM small bait caster. On one and a couple of spinning reels on others. The secret to me is getting your pole balanced where it docent wear you out when fishing for long periods of time. Take the rod you are going to fish with and try several reels on it even if you have to borrow some from buddies. The ideal setup is it will balance with your finger next to reel mount where you grip would be.
