    Default Newbie jig builder

    Hey y'all,

Rob, from Davie, FL (just west of Ft. Lauderdale). Primarily a boatless salt water pier fisherman. Learning to tie my own jigs and noticed your forum.

Looking forward to learning a lot from you and hopefully contributing a bit.

Unfortunately, Spanish macs love marabou crappie jigs - to the tune of getting 3-4 cut off/day. I'm my own best customer.

On the cost, as long as I tie a set of earrings every week, we're good.

You can get knotable metal leader material down to something like 4 or 5 pounds test. That might help get you some more of the lil toothies. The stuff costs a bunch, but could be the extra edge and might really be a time saver and a rig saver.

Yep - if the water is murky enough we use wire. Problem is, the darned fish have eagle eyes... Some times they spook with 20lb fluoro leader...
