Thanks, all! I joined to get some info just before a 1-night campout at Stone Mtn this past Friday. I haven't fished much since I was a kid (and not a whole lot then), except for catching trout in the lake at Big Canoe with Powerbait. Hardly counts as fishing... brother-in-law did all the cleaning and half the cooking!

I'm finally itching to get into some real fishing... recently got a saltwater reel & 7' 2-pc rod for my bday to be used going after the reds at the beach (AL).

Anyway, we were able to snag a few bluegills at Stone Mtn. Four keepers Friday, six on Saturday, ranging up to maybe 7-8". Had a ton of fun with two other couples and the combined six kids. Bait was a margarine tubful of red worms I pulled out of last fall's leaf compost. They were really hitting Friday evening until too dark to see, then again after breakfast until maybe 11am. We fished only from the shore at the campground, mostly around a tree that had fallen into the water.

I was mostly using a short UL rod, unknown line wt, with a swivel & snelled baitkeeper hook about 24-30" below a lead weight and 1" bobber. I was just guessing, but it seemed to work.

I'll be looking for advice on where else to fish around Atlanta, preferably without needing a boat or Stone Mtn's $10 park admission fee. Ideas? Would love to learn more about crappie fishing, too!

    Thanks again,
    Bill
