Default Happy to have found Crappie.com

My name is Jon. I live in Pasadena, and mostly fish for trout in local lakes. There are places that have crappie right now, but the fish are in deep water, and I don't have a boat. I hope to find some places to use the Shakespeare 16' Wonderpole I got for Christmas. I'm afraid I got one a little too long, but some are as long at 21'. I was searching for info on using these poles, and I came across this network. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
Sometimes the magic works, and sometimes...oh well, it was a nice day at the lake.

    Welcome aboard from S.C.
You can use the 16' rod for bream fishing too. You will be able to reach places that you can't throw to because of low limbs. Run about 4' of line off the end of your rod and instead of using the reel pull the line with your free hand until the hook is pulled up to the eye, stick your rod tip under the tree or bush and let the line go. When you get a bite set the hook by pulling the line. You will enjoy the long rod after you use it awhile.

Thank you Stump Hunter. My 16' pole is just that, a telescoping pole with no reel or even place for reel, a Shakespeare Wonderpole. I'm from Memphis and grew up fishing bar pits in Mississippi with a long cane pole and bobber, and I was trying to get back to that somehow. Quality cane poles don't seem to exist out here. I can't wait to catch some panfish on this pole.
