So, I guess I am supposed to introduce myself here? I hope I am putting this in the right place. When I was about 15 I went crappie fishing with my uncle. I had a minnow on my hook and very light action rod and reel. My uncle slowly moved the boat over top of an old fallen down tree trunk and told me he had a caught a few fish there the day before. He told me to just barely drop it in just under the bottom of the log and watch. It was only about 5 feet deep so I saw it all unfold. A flash and my rod about jumped out of my hands. It was a freak of nature crappie (for my area at least)-- over three pounds-- just huge. Ever since then I have been hooked on finding crappies. I can't see a tree in the water without dropping a few lines in it. And no matter what kind of fishing I plan on doing, I rarely get in a boat without the tools to catch crappies. It's a challenge. I love it. Hope I can get some tips to be better at it on this site, because now I just run on tenacity, tobacco products, and a lot of cursing. Have a good one everybody.

I am sworn to secrecy on the lake. I will just say that it is a very small lake with the biggest fish of 3 species (bass, bluegill, crappie) that you could hope to find in any 3000 acre reservoir. It is really a freak of nature. I just do my part to keep populations in check. Where are you from in Indiana?
