Teach anOld Dog new tricks

Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Joe (the "J" in my username) and I am completely clueless when it comes to freshwater fishing. I grew up in Brevard County, FL., and have done tons of saltwater fishing there. I have not fished for a number of years, but now I have grandchildren, and we are wanting to learn to fish the area we now live in. We are in Leesburg, FL, just off of Lake Harris. I have a 18ft. Tracker with small (50hp) Merc on the transom. Grandsons are 7yrs. and 5yrs., and are excited about learning to fish. Their enthusiasm has re-ignited my love for fishing, but as stated earlier, I know squat about fishing for freshwater food. I am not terribly interested in trophy fishing. I want to learn how to get these panfish on the table, and have some fun with my boys in the process.
Thanks for having me here, and I hope to see some of ya'll out on these lakes.
