I think casting corn on a fly rod will be very difficult. I know you can buy artificial corn, though. You'd have better luck casting that.

As far as those guys being serious about carp ... you have no idea! ;) I'm pretty serious about carp, but those guys are hard core. The local CAG guys are a very nice bunch of people.

Agree completely on the carp/redfish similarity. It's a mystery to me why people travel for 10lb reds and ignore the 20lb carp in their backyards.

I've caught them on stonefly nymph patterns and CDC imitations of cottonwood seeds. I have a secret pattern also that I'm not ready to turn loose of yet... hehehe ;)

Good point!

There's more "glamou" associated with redfish than carp. That's probably why.

However, I remember that as a kid, I loved fishing carp. They were big, strong and tough. I always thought they were a great fish.

Now, many saltwater fly rodders are heading for carp waters to fish for them.

I've never done it (I want to do so soon), but I understand they can be really tough.
