Default FCA Tournament Lake Monroe on Saturday the 11th

Just wanted to post a reminder to all that the Florida Crappie Association Will be holding its 2nd event of the year this weekend on Lake Monroe. The boundries are the same as the Crappiemasters event. That is South to the head of Lake Harney, Lake Jessup, Lake Monroe, And North to High Banks Marina (thats around channel marker 92). Remember you only need to fish in 4 events to qualify for the Classic in December. Here is a a link to the thread that has the schedule and rules. Hope to see you there.

Saw several boats on the lake and river today crappie fishing. Looked like they might be scouting for Saturday. Also with spring break, there were plenty of pleasure boats. More than usual for a week day. I think it was a preview for what will be out there this weekend. Good fishing to the FCA tournament folks and be careful in all that traffic.

    Mike,
You guys catch any fish yesterday? Was thinking about going today, but a little windy, plus yardwork caught me.
You going to the weigh-in at Sanford tomorrow - should be at 3. Trudy and I will be there about 2 or so - if you go we'll see you there!

We were looking for bream beds and caught one moby speck by accident. We caught several bream but all small and never did locate any beds. I won't be at the weigh-in because I bought a new boat and I'll be trying to get her ready etc. I hope the FCA guys and girls have a good catch. With this crazy weather it seems to be hit or miss and now the midges (blind mosquitos) have moved into Sanford and lake fishing will be miserably. I caught the speck on a jig I made and tried the method that up2specks told us about. That guy knows his stuff. He proved that at the slabfest.

    Hey to Ms. Trudy,

    Default Weigh-In

Got to the marina at the tail-end of the weigh-in, so don't know who won, but the 7 fish weight was 10 lbs 6 oz and biggest fish was 2.004 lbs.
Daryl Cole says the next tournament is May 9th at John's Lake on Hwy 50 (I think that's near to Winter Garden). B8FISH please correct this if I'm all wet here.

    Default you are right

The fishing for Dad and I was tough. We made a friday night decision to go south to the mouth of Harney we trolled down river at 1 mph. At the bends we managed to catch fish right on the chages of depth. The boat traffic was not as bad but the fish were smaller. We caught 60 + 3/4lb and 1/2lb fish. So if you want a mess to eat that is the spot. But, George parker won the tourney by long lining over 20' of water in the morning and then he jig the rest of his fish off of structure(lay downs and pilons i think). The next torney is on John's lake, May 9th. The boat ramp is just off Hwy 50 and the Trn Pike.
