All the reports I have seen/heard about, say specks are still in 6-10' of water (open water) due to the cold fronts that have pushed through. Most are caught slow trolling jigs tipped with minners. Chart., gold, copper, blue/white are some colors to start with. Hope this helps.

Thanks centerdriver. I went today and had no success. Fished between 5 to 20'. One pole hit and DaD missed a big something that got away.
East wind around 10 to 15. Used numerous jigs and minnows.

    thanks

    Default Spinners & Roadrunners

    rwebster14,

Have you tried using a small spinner like a beetle spin or a roadrunner? We use both types but use a 2 inch Southern Pro curly tail grub on the jighead. Works well for us here in Ky when we slow troll jigs. Just an idea for you to ponder.

tried the pads and grass line yesterday afternoon, had 1 bite on a jig/minnow(either bass or mud). first trip in a long time was surprised to see water temp at 64. only saw 1 other guy and he was on his way home after being skunked. So back to the deep.--shu

Like a hard head I went back today, caught two dinks, meanwhile my friend on Lake George in Conway slayed nearly 50 Sat and Sun in clear water.

4th day in a row went to the grass to start, then to 12', then to twenty ', had 13 poles out most with 2 hooks, after 3.5 hrs and not the first bite, it was home again jiggity jog, i'm going to have a good talk with myself about speckled perch fishing, take a nap then go again in the morning and don't know where to go, how to fish, but it sure is nice to be on the lake again.--shu

had the talk and the nap, went this morning caught 4 two of which were about 3" but the highlite of the morning was a BIG gar took the pole away(didn't want to break line) chased pole down fought fish a little longer before hook came out, was exciting though, water temp 68, think it needs to get to 58 before things start to happen.
