    Default Monroe-Wed

Well, looking at the weather forecast (winds=7-9) decided we'd try Lake Monroe again.
I did go to Lake Harney last week and only caught one, lost two, and that was it ! Went up to river on north side and trolled around, NADA. And, only hooked up on those three out in the middle of the lake.
So, after getting seven last Monroe trip, decided that'd be best bet, and hopefully winds be bearable enough to get out on the lake.
Sure enough, we were able to get out on the lake but only found one. Once again we returned to trolling the river and finally wound up with ten.
Still lookin for the mother load
    Happy Thanksgiving everybody ! ! ! !

Alright, cause you guys are my buddies, I'm gonna turn ya on to this video I been watchin. Look closely and you can pick up some good "pointers" (if ya know where to look).
It's not selecting the specific video, so ya gotta select "Monroe" from the list, etc

    Danny,
Wife and I went out on Lake Monroe on Tuesday after the weather guessers said it would be nice with 20% chance of rain. Was nice for about an hour and first line in caught a small guy in about 2 minutes - threw him back with great expectations. Nothing more and at 10 it poured down rain for about 45 minutes. Put the top up but the wind was too much so went home all wet with nothing.
Yesterday went back out and the wind was up pretty good until about 9 then it eased a little. Caught 6 - threw one back, lost one and went home with 4. But 4 fish in 5 hours, oh well. A lot of the guys fish off Stone Island toward the middle of the lake where the water is a little deeper.
A couple guys at the dock had same luck as us, but one gent caught 14.
Glad to see your report on Lake Harney - almost went there yesterday but guess I'll pass. Off the subject though - you fish/catch any catfish in Lake Harney?

    Don;
    No catfish at all.
Yes, I looooove my catfish ! And, is a thrill when I get one while Crappie fishin !
I think I've only caught 2 catfish in Harney itself, but have caught a few north and south of Harney in the river when I was targeting them.
Sorry to hear bout your Tue trip, them things gonna happen, etc....
Yeah, same with us yesterday, was rather rough but do-able early, then got quite nice out, however, no fish.
We even ran all the way across the lake (put in @ Jessup) and tried the bumpers under I-4 = NADA.
Decided to return to where we got the seven the other week, etc....
Lake Harney used to be really good till we had all the hurricanes a few years ago, ever since, it hasn't really been even close to impressive, and I love Harney, cause it's the closest big lake to me, etc...
One thing for sure, is only going to get better from here on out, been waiting all summer for this time of year, sure going to try and enjoy it this time around.
    Have a nice Turkey Day

Default Friday took 6 from Monroe

Fished from my Kayak on Friday on Monroe. Conditions were perfect. Wind 5 mph or less. Didn't get out until noon though. Paddled out trolling all the way to the third triangle marking the channel from the boat launch at the I 4 bridge. Caught all my fish on the Sanford side of the channel in about a half hour period about 100 yards from the third triangle. Really thought I was gonna get into them then it just shut off. A lot of other boats out and I only saw an occasional fish taken here and there.

Most people were still fishing minnows. Biggest one was thirteen, smallest eight inches. Only lost one. Oh well, I had a great time. I just had to make sure the bass boats didn't run me over. Next time I'm gonna try to wear something bright. My Kayak sits so low on the water and those guys go soooo fast. Don't think they see me easily. Is it really necessary on a lake of that size? I can paddle across the thing in about 20 minutes to a half hour depending on how serious I'm being. I think I did about as well as anyone and I used no gas. Well better luck next time, but I had a great time.

Find Sanford (just north of Orlando) and Sanford sits on the south shore of lake Monroe.....
And Deltona sits on the north shore......
