Default November 17th to Lake Monroe

Weather looked pretty good this morning about 7:00a.m. except a little chilly. By the time wife and I got to Lake Monroe there were white caps, but the sun was shining. Lauched at the marina and ran across the lake to the north side to try and avoid the NW winds. In the water by 9 and by 10 the wind had died down and it was a lovely day - even warmed up a little.
Trolled back and forth near Stone Island and got 5 - they should be cooking in a few minutes. Seemed like most were holding at about 5 feet in 9 feet of water. Off the water a little after 1:00.
If I had been smart (not usually so though) I would have lauched on the north side of the lake just east of the old power plant on Enterprise Road. Nice little launch there, but tight to the road -you have to back off the road into the launch - not much traffic there though.
Anyway next trip - maybe later this week if weather is decent - to Lake Harney - have to try Lake Jessup now too since all the boat launches have been opened by the county.

Those fish were delicious for dinner!

#1 Sus-speck - Our first trip this year for crappie was on Oct 23rd and caught 5 and a week later caught 6 and then the 5 yesterday. Wife and I troll with 4 poles and catch enough for dinner - neighbors are beginning to look hungry so we may have to catch a few more and share the catch.

Specktracker - We just troll jigs - some of the guys at the launch have been using dark green exclusively and working great. We tend to use a gold color and also a light green - seem to catch more on the gold. I've never used a small silver spinner ahead of the jig, but think I will give that a try next time out.
Actually next time out I'll think we'll give the crappie a break and go over to Ponce Inlet for some flounder.
