Thread: January/February Fishing at Lake Kissimmee

Thumbs up January/February Fishing at Lake Kissimmee

We are looking to come to the Lake Kissimmee for fishing in either january or middle January and stay as long as a month. What would be the best time frame to kinda catch the crappie right on the St. John's river and this area?

Wife and I would really appreciate any assistance and knowledge. Have not been down that way before and since we are now both retired, thought we might try and come and figure it out.

as far as Lake Kissimmee goes, you better hurry up right now and make a reservation if your looking for either a camping spot or a cabin on the lake itself. The snowbirds anymore make arangements 6 months ahead of time so spots are few and far at times, and on Lake Kissimmee the number of fish camps are very few.Last year on Kissimmee to me it was the full moon in March that saw the best action last year but I start dabbing for them now but get real serious come Thanksgiving. All depends on the weather, we need some cold snaps and right now up until Jan its night fishing mostly for me. This is all my personal opinon tho

We have a spot to camp and we are bringing our RV and boat. Just trying to get as close as we can to being pretty good. In our area, Mid April and into May is the best for the slabs, Ky Lake and Ohip River.

I appreciate your response and the moon will be full on January 11th 2009 and look like that is when we want to be in the area.

It looks like the full moon will be on the 11th of January and then again on the 8th of February. Looks like the time to be there and catch'em.

    Good for eating.
