Tom, thank you very much for the detailed information. We usually fish two rods a person (mainly due to boat size), but it looks like we need to invest in some of those fancy rod holders. I was hoping to try the lake tomorrow, but might have to wait until the weekend due to the wind. Once again, thanks for all of your help.

I've never really done well in lochloosa i've gone several times and never caught anything worth talking about. I think one trip i went we caught 2 bass and a mud fish. Then the next trip maybe 2 bass,1 crappie, and a gar. Then the other trip with three of us i think we got 4 i caught zip. These were all a few years ago i didnt try the bream there seeing i hadnt gotten a light action rod and had no desire i suppose.

We went last Friday for our first 2009 trip. Fishing was slower than usual but the size of the fish was up. We caught 30 and 15 of the 30 were keepers (12" or more). That is the best Keeper/Tosser ratio we have had on Lochloosa. We normally catch about 4 tossers to every keeper.

The largest was exactly 2 pounds, next largest was 1 lb. 8 oz.

All the fish in the picture were measured by the way, all were 12 inches or over.

Surprisingly, the 2 pound fish had no roe while every one of the smaller ones did. The fish were a bit shallower than last time. They seem to be moving towards the outer edges of the hydrillia weed lines.

The first shot shows a Lochloosa Sunrise, the second a sunset. Shows our normal start and stop times.

My fishing buddy Don lands a runt. I am in the second shot with a keeper.

Another Lochloosa trip today. We caught 33 but most were small. The larger fish we were on last week were very hard to find.

It is also getting harder for us to launch Don's 22' Sea Chaser. If the water drops much more, we are going to have to go to some other lake.

The full moon earlier is probably the reason we did poorly today. The moon is actually rising in the daytime and is bright all night... right up to about an hour before sunrise. The fish are probably feeding all night and not really on a feeding cycle at daybreak when we start.

Still a nice trip though and beats the hell out of working.

    Hello Tom,
I enjoyed your pictures and reports. I spent a week at Twin Lakes Fish Camp about 4 years ago. It was one of my favorite fishing trips but gas got high and I started going to Alabama. Anyway, I fished the area that the Sun is setting on in your picture. We also fished the "pads" in the mouth of the creek that connects Lockloosa to Orange. This is a wonderful area! Very peaceful for Flordia.
Could you post a picture of the terminal tackle rig you are using. You made a detailed description but I would like to see a picture if you have time. I like your idea of covering alot of water. I normally use a 3/8 sinker and you can't travel that fast.
Anyway thanks again for the memories and post pic if you can.

    Thanks,
    Tom
