We had 3 boats of us down at Anglers Riverside Retreat ( low key, but quick access ) this past week. We started out on Saturday at Dexter and the river, with only 3 keepers ( 9 inches or bigger ). We had driven all night and were very tired, so our day was short and we had to check in. After hearing from Mud ( Thank you friend ) we decided to head on up to Woodruff Sunday morning.. Boy oh Boy, what a difference that made. We limited out on 2 of our 3 boats.. Other boat had a hard time understanding what we were doing ( long lining with floats ). After some late evening training, they understood. Next morning, back to Woodruff and it was still on fire. All 3 boats limited out by 1 PM.. I know we culled close to 20 fish that day, but had a beautiful mess by the end of the day. Long story short, by Thursday, My boat had caught 252. Not a bad week at all.. Our personal best was a 2lb 2oz, a 1lb 15oz and a 1lb 13oz, with several 1lb fish.

No fish kept under 9 inches...

I'm no expert, but I believe they are headed to the shallows to spawn at this time.. Several fish cleaned Wednesday and Thursday had bloody eggs and were full!
I know that there is a tournament down there today ( Saturday and Sunday ), but if I were fishing it, I would be hitting the banks...

Great job icehouse you guys crushed em and it was a pleasure meeting you out on the lake. Yesterday woodruff still had a good early bite caught 3 before I could even get all the rods out.

redeli when you get here check the lakes and if there are more than a half dozen boats fishing then they are still in the lakes if there aren’t at least 5 or 6 boats then chances are it’s not very good and go shallow.

I will be at Anglers Riverside Retreat 2/22 through 3/9. I fish the lakes every year, Dexter cab be good, but I have some hot spots on Woodruff that usually hold fish for me. I keep enough to bring home to Ohio to eat. But I release a bunch of them. I like long line trolling with grubs, twister tails, tubes and a few other types of baits. Always a great time!!

If, as Mud said, there are lots of boats out there, go straight on thru when you get to the lake. Far end, I found an area nobody was fishing. Everyone was staying mid lake area back towards entrance. I marked 3 spots in a triangle and that is where we found them. Fishing roughly 36 to 40 inches deep under a weighted float.

We were there Feb 9-16.found fish on Woodruff and caught a bunch .Had to weed out the little ones but fishing was great. Also the catfish bite was on as well. Biggest spec was 2.4 and a couple others at 2.0.Can't wait to get back.
