It all started with a phone call. Do you want to go to the Keys for some lobsters ?? When I asked. In 5 days he said. Great I said, I don't know how to dive. The next thing I know, I'm sitting in the pool with a tank strapped to my back learning how to breath under water.

Then off we go. It took us about 8 hours to drive there and to launch the boat and make it to the house. A good nights rest and then its out to the gulf we go. My first dive was nothing to brag about , but I got in the water, made it down and back up again with out killing myself. A good start. But the first day proved to be a good day. We even stopped to do some fishing on the way in. I picked up a strange looking crappie along the way.

We got to clean our catch and we even cooked some of it up for dinner. Off to bed for a good nights sleep, a hearty breakfast and back on the water again. This was our routine for the next 9 days. But I did catch some more of those strange looking crappies.

The weather played some games with us a little. and we jumped from side to side of the keys looking for the better condition. We even made a run "off shore", about 30 miles out in search mahi. I did hook into one and got it all the way to the boat. The guy with the gaff missed. the fish dove, I brought it back, we tried again but that fish wanted no part of it. I lost line as the fish ran for the back of the boat and the motor. That was all she wrote , she broke the line and was gone. Sorry no picture of that one. It looked like it could have been around 15-20 pounds. who knows, but it was a fun fight.

We kept an eye on the weather. There was a lot of it going on all around us.

We did manage to keep out of most of the bad stuff. But it did make for some fun rides back.

For my first trip. It was a great week + . A lot of new catches was added to my list of fishes caught.
