I know, some of you are wondering, do I do WHAT?! My interpretation of FINESSE("skinny") fishing is being able to achieve successful results while using specific, sometimes high-risk/ultralight elements. My idea of a go-to setup is 5 - 7 foot u/l rod, 1000/2000 series reel, loaded with 2 lb. non-braid(hi-vis 4 me) line of choice{braid to flouro leader, ok I guess}, artificial lures(hand-tied micro chenille/hair 1/80-1/32 oz., my choice). No LIVE bait or Scents added(sorry Slab, just me). Knots and frequent line inspection are crucial with the "skinny". My added enjoyment comes from catching quality fish while tying/inventing new lure modifications. The variations lure makers have are only as limited as his/her creativity(eg.- color, material, size, eyes, tail length, hook type). Always hear of eyes vs. no eyes being debated but haven't seen(missed?) any talk on "back color".What I am convinced of is = with the "skinny" you best have you t's crossed and your i's dotted(no pun intended, lol) This to mean means au natural...when was the last time you saw an eyeless baitfish/ever see a baitfish with non-contrasting back coloration? Me neither!!
I totally agree that manufactures build lures with cute color names/patterns to catch FISHERMEN!!
Now I easily know/hear that if I can't buy it @Bass Pro or Walmart I don't use it
To each his own folks! I'm including some recent successfully field-tested hand ties. The small one @bottom fooled a 14" yesterday, and the small blue/black bested it last week w/14.5"!
Get "skinny" and get FAT slabs!
Take care, tight lines no matter what you have confidence in-
