Great post and pics. It’s been a blast with billbob the last two weeks peaking with the state park event and this event. And especially oak wood ribs.
This has been billbobs best trip down. Yeah we had some poor days on the water but for the most part we killed them. He leaves tomorrow. But we’ll be fishing again together in no time.
I’ll have to tell y’all about the billbob bop later. It’s a cool technique to use with livescope. Super fun.

As some of you already know, the Florida chapter of C.com held a crappiefest initiated by Slab two Sunday's ago that was unanimously enjoyed/appreciated. However, there was a select few that weren't able to fish the event. I ran an idea past Slab about a "re-run" for the handful fitting that description...he welcomed the idea on the same lake=HIS(Griffin). After checking both his and Billbob's availability, he offered up two tentative dates. I then saddled up the organizing committee of one to start Billbob's sendoff mission(tomorrow). Well with phone and computer @hand, the obvious coordination for this fish & feast began. Text/verbal phone communications were made to unveil the plan to the hopeful participants. Fortunately, for those that made the team to enjoy the weather-perfect day were complimented by great fishing and a scrumptious smoked rib meal afterwards.
(the Man, the Myth, the Legend!) It was only to get better...while motoring he suggested a spot to start, I then respectfully introduced myself as today's Captain. Now, please take into consideration that this is my fourth trip to Slab's lake with some notable results vs. Shu's 40 years of fishing this lake!!
Shu's only request was that he be able to bring his 2 favorite slab sticks...he overstepped his request= bringing 3- 10' CANE POLES and minnows!
Unfortunately, I read the fairly recent post of Slab that Shu was givin' up his minners but I didn't want to beat a dead horse
. Didn't take long for us to begin bending our long-lining rods at my new to Shu spot. Nothing better to shorten the learning curve by inviting an experienced, adept, capable Professor Shu onboard. We learned about each other along with the history of the Lake as seen thru Shu's eyes, turns out we both started our later-life fishing obsession at the same age of four! Thanks goes out to Shu for his knowledge share and we both yielded more ideas from each other in the process. Thanks also to Slab for recommending the rib eatery and other things, and a hearty thanks/sendoff to Billbob's frigid return up North. My black lab Raven also sends "high paws" for the doggie bag o' rib bones!
. No doubt in my mind that Shu & I will be sharing another trip or two in Fresh or Salt, the guy is a gamer. Enjoy the pics...thanks for checkin' in on me.
