    Default Newb from Clermont Chain

Hey guys lived in central Florida my whole life. Grew up fishing on mainly private lakes in Windermere area. Not my house but some friends places. Recently moved out to Clermont and now we live on Crescent Lake. I’m not super experienced in speck fishing but I know a few things. Hoping to pick up some knowledge from the members here. Anybody know if there’s any decent speck fishing on the Clermont Chain? If I was to guess Crescent Lake might be decent. Appears to have a few deep holes and from what I see there is some pretty decent vegetation that in my limited experience and knowledge has been known to hold speck. Not looking for anybody’s honey hole. Just curious if I would be wasting my time in this area.

At 1st glance I might suspect someone playing a pun, under an alias, but I would think Slab has a way to filter these things......anyhoo Cracker, although Crescent has experienced "Heavy" pressure the past few yrs, you live on one of the best lake's in the state for having the opportunity to catch a 3 lb. crappie=no need to go anywhere else...1/16th oz. jigs w/curly tails or paddle tails, experiment w/colors, & you'll be on your way in no time...good luck & to the site!

No pun here. I am really a newb on the forum I promise. I have noticed a few posts about crescent on here but I was wondering if it was my crescent or one of the many other crescent lakes in the state. Thanks for the tips @Speck Detector

Two different Crescent's. The one Cracker1397 is talking about is part of the Clermont Chain. A small lake just south of Minnehaha. Yes, Minnehaha is a lake name! We got lots of funny lake names down here.

Anyway, can't really say much about that area. That Crescent lake seems kinda small to have big crappie, but you never know. It's looks like it's connected to Minnehaha, so there's a good chance though. And maybe it's warming up quicker than the big lake drawing in the crappie for the spawn. Check it out and let us know. Maybe someone else will chime in that's more familiar with the Clermont Chain. Good luck.

I will have to check it out. I fished minnehaha years ago and didn’t have any luck with crappie. Probably user error. Thanks for the info!
