After getting my new Crappie.com hat, I thought that it would be a good idea to test it out.

I got to the ramp around 7:30am but there were still a few spots open in the parking lot. I launched and headed out into the lake. There were two boats working around the sign line, so I moved up wind from them so the wind would bring me in line with them. I started to set out the lines. I watched as the sun came up.

I got my cup of coffee and settled back. The wind ( very light ) and the trolling motor took me alone the intended path. I moved past the sign. I looked around and found myself alone. The other boats had move further down the line. No action. I swing wide and start a new path.

A rod goes off (finally ). It's on the small side, I let it go. A little while later another rod goes off. I think it was the same fish that I let go. It goes back (again ). In fact the next 8 fish are on the small side ! I am starting to wonder if my new hat was a jinx.

The fish were coming in spirts. so I had lots of time in between the action. I start to play with my fish finder to see if I can fine tune it better. I swing in closer to shore.

The rod goes off again. This time it's a keeper. I work the area some more and add another keeper to the box. I think the hat will be ok !

Most of the action came on only two rods today. I had set up some of the other rods the same but the fish only liked those two rods. Thats OK, I still was having action. The wind started to pick up a little and it was getting hot. I headed in.

I brought 4 good size keepers home to add to the bag for the fish fry.
