Combination of unforeseen time off, light boat, & cheaper than normal gas prices helps matters...:biggrin Actual took 2 salt poles & went to the Sebastian Inlet in the afternoon, which looked wicked, however, was about 40 boats staging a 1/8 mile inshore that looked much calmer, but would of paid $10 at park to launch for 2hrs of fishing I had no idea were to start. Good scouting to make another trip worth while someday...Quote:

There is a ramp in the park with much easier conditions to launch and retrieve in and good fishing close by. I would not go east of the bridge in Sebastian inlet in your boat, heck, outgoing tide and east wind I wouldnt in mine either. That is one nasty inlet.

Yea that guy had problems before he got deep into trouble. Boat looks like it was sitting way low in water and then he stuffed it into a roller. That inlet is nasty too.
Back in the 70’s I knew zip about boats and bad inlets. Camped at Sebastian for a weekend and watched a 30’ plus wood boat, like a Chris craft, try to get in the inlet 3 or 4 times, only to be spun out of control each time. He finally parked outside the inlet and waited for what I think was slack tide before he could make it in. Learned respect for inlets that day, never took a boat there yet.
