Best shore fishing would probably be Saddle Creek Park. Phillips Bait and Tackle is right there next to the park. I have not done so but am told a lot of Talipia are caught from shore there on crickets.

I will be coming down to Auburndale this Friday to watch some college baseball at myrtle sport complex. Lakeland, well you already know, is full of lakes but I would like to know where to go. For public shore fishing. Or more important where NOT to go.
Also if someone needs/wants company and has an extra seat on their boat. I would be grateful. I'm great with net! And good extra deck hand.
Thanks for any info. I can't wait to get to the sunshine state.

Just be careful how you wiggle your worm at Saddle Creek. May end up with some unexpected bycatch of the two legged kind, if you know what I mean
Teneroc has some walk in fishing Friday-Monday.
Lots of the lakes with ramps have docks that you can fish, but I can't say I've tried any of them. If I have a seat open that weekend, I'll holler atcha.
Hillsborough River State park has a small creek that runs through it with some outstanding panfishing with ultralight tackle. Best access is from hiking trails and from just behind pavilion in campground. Not that far from Lakeland. We have camped there numerous times and always fished the banks off the trail from behind pavilion in campground. About 150 yards down the trail to the west it flattens out a bit and makes fishing much easier. Small creek in width but a pile of fun with light tackle.

Oh, FYI: my non-baseball days are Sunday the 4th, Tues the 6th and Friday the 9th. Only one game on Monday the 5th but in the middle of the day at 1pm. But I will fish every morning getting in a few cast.

I just arrived to hotel in Bartow and I can't get saddle creek out of my mind. Now it's a 'must go to'. This Kentucky boy can't pass up something that interesting. Wait?!?! Saddle creek is full of "fillies" not "colts?" I don't want to make that mistake again! Jk
