Wow, great pictures. Don't look anything like that now. That area is over grown more and there's a board walk. Tell us the story please, we have time!

Ha ! I just now sent Flycaster a PM asking him to remove the second pic and change my verbage to say "Here's another view of Blue Springs" ....
I felt a bit guilty for high-jackin your thread. I always seem to catch these things the next day when I get up etc, etc, etc .......

Naw, I think that's the only two pics I took that day (don't seem to have any more in my archives).
The little lady in the second pic is my first wife, we had just been married a month or two, I was getting her into scuba..
The fellow is an old biker friend named Bobby.
He and I went down and entered on the wrong side (got to go to know these things) I was in front and just cruising on in
and swam right into the hydrant (flow coming out of the bowels). It hit me and tumbled me up and into the room in there.
When I finally got my stuff together I had my line wrapped all around me (the line is the line ya tie off as you enter a cave
and let out as you venture on in, so, ya can find your way back out etc, etc ...
And I couldn't find Bobby at all...... I started yelling for him through my regulator best I could, was a little concerned. Finally he showed up, the hydrant had hit him too, anyway we exited from the other side and higher. Everything worked out ...
Back in the day, all these springs were just swimming holes out in the woods, down two-rut dirt roads, no gov regulations etc ...
I think Alexander Springs was pretty well developed, but, 40-Phantom Sink (now 40-Phantom Grotto) Ginny Springs, Little River,
Peacock Slough (a beautiful dive), Devil's Eye and several others were all just old swimming holes out in the woods.
Today they got lots of guards and regs....
And, I guess that's a good thing, less people getting killed (Dumbo's like me and Bobby) Got to be "Cave Certified" today ....
That's the story and I'm stickin to it ! ! ! ! !
Nice pics & great story Phantom, I can remember going there as a kid & the boardwalk did not go all the way to the boil.
I'm sitting here thinking if I even remember the boardwalk either. I know we used to walk down a woods trail to the springs but can't remember
if that was Blue or Juniper. There are small springs back in the woods at Juniper we used to get in, they are closed off now & probably better that
way, to preserve it. Spent many nights camping at Alexander as a kid too, I really enjoy the springs especially in the summer but have taken a winter
dip before. When we stayed at Blue sometimes we used to go down at night & swim, seems like you would sleep so good after that cold water dip.
Hey Slab, do they allow anyone to swim there anymore ???????
