Got a nice ultra early start at nearly 11 am with my daughter. She doesn't get to go out on the boat much with me, or do the fun family stuff on the weekends as she goes to her dad's every weekend. These trips and days are special to me, and I could care less about the catching part.
Hoping to get a few before the storms move in. .....2 in the first 15min, things are looking great. No real size, but not tiny dinks. Gotta re-teach her how to fight fish (remember I fish light line) and not reel against the drag. 45 min later, nothing going on, and rain bearing down on us.
Head over to eat lunch hoping storm blows by fast. Her choice on go home or stay out. Decided to give it another shot, north end was on fire. Probably 10 hits in 45 min to an hour, although only 2 made it to the boat. Those two were a pair of 14" solid fish.
I did manage to find the motherload of them, but couldn't get back on top of them. It got marked. No sooner did I see the blob of fish did the 4# outfit take off, drag singing. I knew that was easily best fish of the day, she brought it to the boat in home it came.
All in all, great day on the water with my daughter, she had fun and is currently tired. Couldn't ask for a better day.

What time is it?IT'S CRAPPIE TIME!
Great post. They remember small things and days we think of as uneventful. Mine are in their early 30's and surprise me all the time with small things they remember from our trips. I gave my youngest a picture of her with a 1lb LMB. 15 years ago. She still has it in the same plastic frame and can tell many details of the day. Good Job Daddy"
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
I am fortunate enough to have PLENTY of those days with my dad to remember and still jump at the chance to add to that book of memories in my head.
I was so spoiled I had to relearn that even trash fish to me are some of the most exciting times for the kids. Just get the rod bent for them.
