Hit the ramp early but forgot how busy the weekend gets. But I did find a parking spot. I Headed out to the open water and mad my way over to the Old Power Plant. I set up for a drift but we had calm winds.I dropped the trolling motor and set up a pattern. It wasn't long before a rod went off.
I was planning to continue trying new things today. Half of my rods were set with my tried and true set ups, the other half with something new and different.
I was having luck on both set ups. But one jig was starting to out produce the others. I had just boated a fish on it and was getting ready to reset the rod when the jig fell off --and into the water. I went to the box to get another one and couldn't find another one like it. So I tried something close to it. I set it out and a short time later the rod bounced. I checked the rod and that jig was gone. Time to check the set up.
It started to get a little busy on the water so I called it a day and headed in.
I took home 7 nice keepers and set more free to swim another day. It was a nice morning on the water and a few more fish for the freezer. AND I got home early.
another good day at the office !

It was my scheduled weekend to work, so I know it was a much better day than I had. Glad you got to go and get a few. Ever find out why you were losing the jigs? Some of the old Matzuo sickle hooks had a gap in the eye and were bad about that. Just wondering. I wish I had the time to fish as much as you do.
Ahhh the retired life, going anytime, worth fighting the crowds yesterday..... for sure

I was trying a different type of set up. I was using a spreader with three jigs off of it. one of the loops that the jig was attached to let loose under pressure, letting the jig slip off when the fish hit it. I need to work on that a bit more but the idea might work out.
It took me a long time to get to where I am at. But now I help keep the freezer full and the Family feed. Not to mention the neighborhood fish fries every now and then. I love the catchen part but don't like the cleaning part. So I keep only what I feel like cleaning today, then go again to get some more. I hope you can join me soon.
another good day at the office !
