I got to the ramp around 7 am. Today I was going to give the Tracker a bath, try out the 3.5 hp motor and wet a line or two.
Task 1 complete. Got the Tracker in the water and ran her around a bit. Now on to task #2. I had the 3.5 already set up an the trolling bracket, all I had to do was to get it started and give her a test. First try ( after the third pull ) she jumps to life. I adjust the controls and she dies. I try to start her again but no go. I think I flooded her. So off she comes and the elect goes back on.
New to set the rods.... Where are the rod holders ?? yep !! Back at home. I took the off for our trip to the coast so that they would not get in the way. ( Danny I now know how you felt.)
But all is not lost. I have a few holders stashed around the boat. I get 5 rods out. It wasn't too long and a rod goes off and the first fish of the day comes on board and then back into the water to grow up. The same thing with the next two fish.. But then I get a keeper. I feel much better. Two more and I can cook Paula a fish dinner. The wind was calm but was still there enough to affect my control. I moved a little further out into the lake than I wanted to be,so I adjusted some. Then the wind died down. I was all motor or still fishing. I pointed the bow towards the ramp and started to work my way in.
As I worked my way in the rods kept going off every so often. With out realizing it I had boated 17 fish and kept 7 for the ride home. Other boaters told me that it was a slow morning today. And it did seem like it, no fast action, but it turned out to be a good day after all. Now if I can just get that 3.5 to run for me..
