Returned to Talquin this morning bright and early with dad. Went to where I left them on Monday in the channel. Few boats were around and the Humminbird was lit up with fish. Got to trolling and nothing. Ventured off the channel and still not much. Just some short sized crappie so we moved on.
Pulled up to a creek month and I immediately get hammered by something (bass or striped) that sends my drag screaming. Felt like it hung me up and then I straightened the hook on him. Fished around a little more and nothing to brag about. Just some more short fish and no fat females.
On to the next hole around 9, a few boats were trolling the area but they all seamed to be doing different things. We caught a few good fish early, some males and some females so we stuck this spot out for the rest of the day. We trolled shallow but not too shallow, just enough to get hung consistently ALL DAY and catch some females about to bust with roe.
Finished the day with 34 keepers and 1 striper about 18 inches. No real monsters, but dad lost an absolute HAWG at the boat. Had many other fish spit the hook at the boat. They seem to be nipping them and not inhaling the baits like the past few trips. We caught more small fish than we normally do on Talquin.
Some people were in the pads/shallows but from what I could tell they aren't catching much...yet.
