    Default Dont push the limits

Headed out the inlet this morning and saw a pile of flashing lights at the end. Tide was outgoing and a stiff wind stacking the inet with 3' -4' rollers. Manageable in my boat but gotta go easy. Got to the end where all the chaos was and there was a boat up on the jetties. Did not appear to be any injuries as guys were unloading stuff from boat carrying across jetties back to lighthouse park. Stayed clear of it on way out but coming back in the Coasties,FWC and VCSO marine patrol were gone and got a few pics. I see jon boats out there often and always amazes me as that inlet can get nasty. I guess it reared up and smacked someone this morning. These things happen in a blink of an eye. Be careful guys and dont push your boats beyond their design.

When going out the waves were crashing over the rocks that boat is on. Gives ya an idea the conditions he was in.

Sorry I didnt catch up with ya this morning out there Jeff. I think I saw you tucked in behind dissapearing island when I was headed to the inlet. Ended with a fat 24" trout and 16" sheephead for my son to tote home for dinner.

Glad you did OK and didn't have any issues Mike. I have a couple of tales of bad things happening on the jetties I'll tell you sometime, mostly secondhand. Standing soldiers are something to see if you haven't. I'd like to have that trout on my table.

I will have to drag ya out there some day. Water is beautiful Edgewater to the inlet right now. Easy 5' visibility.

Wow, you weren't a kidding Mike, did they have a small HP motor on the transom or is that a trolling motor ? Had a busy morning thanks to the Blues & my new friend Mr. pelican approved... had to cut him off after the 3rd 12" blue, but he really never bothered me after that. I stayed in the same spot all morning, the rocks around that spillway is a awesome ambush point & the bottom structure is like a yo-yo on the electronics. Landed 10 Blues, 1 snapper, 4 trout, 1 sheephead 14", & 1 25" Red....all under size except in pic, lost gator trout at the boat & something else I never seen, all caught on shrimp, except Red ate cut-bluefish strip.

Great fishing report, but I feel bad for the guy in that tin boat. Don't think it'll ever be the same!

Jeff, the motor was torn off hanging in the rocks below on steeing and control cables. Looked larger than 50hp but not sure.

Andy it wasnt that bad a ride out even in thse conditions. 20mph and bow up it just rode roller to roller. Coming back in it had laid down quite a bit as the tide had weakened. Bad part was making the ride out for nothing, but ya dont know till ya go.
