    Default Orange Lake vs Lochloosa

Thinking of venturing to Florida tips week to try my luck, last year this time the numbers were great at Lochloosa. Haven't heard much this year. Any reports on the bite? Also, Has Orange lake been producing at all, I'm considering trying it instead. Any suggestions or thoughts?

We fished lochloosa two weeks ago with the Fl Crappie Club,
It was very slow then ,
Maybe this cooler weather has helped the bite improve

Orange Lake for now. The fish are running small but we did manage to catch a few nice ones in the am. Be on the lookout for those floating islands.

Amazes me that so many from Georgia routinely travel deep into Florida to Speck fish with all the good lakes in Georgia.

Born and raised in FL, still own property in FL - so a bit more than just a routine trip for me.

What he said... Florida will always be HOME. 40 years of Florida fishing. The amazing thing is I fish in the lakes in both states.

Me and my son-in-law hit Lochloosa this past Wednesday and caught one catfish. We trolled up on the northwest corner from a little after daylight til 1:30pm. Really slow. Nobody was doing much. The next day I went to Orange and put in at Marjorie Rawlings. There was a line at the ramp at 7am. I did better. I caught 8 keepers and one cat by 2pm. I trolled on the west side of the lake. I will tell you it was my first time on the lake and finding the entry back into Marjorie Rawlings ramp was a challenge. It is well marked when you get to where it is but it can be a real problem finding the entry from a half mile out on the lake. Thankfully a couple of nice folks on the water steered me in the right direction.
