    Default Little used water

My brother is 9 years older than me and I'm not young. He loves to fish as I do and he has access to a lake in north Tampa that is now a ski lake with houses almost all the way around the shore. I fished this lake as a teen many years gone. I have one memory of this lake that involves schooling bass and a baby Dalton Special. They were hitting it almost before it got to the water on every cast. Can almost take you to the spot that took place.
Anyway we returned to that lake yesterday after 50 years of absence from that water. Didn't know if I could find any specks or not. Wanted my brother to catch a few if possible. Made plans to go last week so I looked at Navionics webb app which has the lake we targeted and found some holes to 22 feet deep. We targeted one of these holes to start our Spider rigging method with various jigs of various colors minnow tipped. Got set up and baited lines out we were waiting with anticipation excitement to discover if right choice was made on starting place for this new water. We needed not be anxious as in about 15 minutes we were in the fish. Several times with doubles and maybe a triple but not sure about that. these were nice fish with nothing under 11" and several in the 13" class. We couldn't catch specks for the bass. Brother and I had a blast catching fish and remembering other brother and sister that have departed this earth. Wonderful time spent with older sibling. My brother kept his share before pics were taken.
We ended with 19 mkeeper specks and kept 4 of the 16 bass we caught and releasing 3 under sized specks. Color did not matter, I had a few prized jigs that were a gift from fellow member Marv. He hand tied these Baits By Marvelous Marv and furnished them to me as a field tester. After yesterday I'm going to hit him up for some sponsorship donations.Name: Magdalene specks and bass.jpg

Great story to go with your pics, sounds like a good day out with your brother bringing back memories of the good times.

I hope you get compensation for product testing those marvelous Baits by Marv.

Awesome post. My brother is 11 years older. We get to fish together a couple times a year. We live 175 miles apart. Your story made me think of him. We talked today. Thanks and glad for you.

That was a very good post Yelim. Folks always say how much they enjoy my posts and I feel that I have nothing over you. So good to hear of a trip of years past revisited, and with such success. My brother and I are all that remains of the original family and we had a few trips in recent past that were spacial for me, so I fully understand how you glow inside when remembering the little things that made the day. Thanks for sharing it all with me, with us.......Skeet

Thanks Skeet, gracious of you. We two are also the remains of our original family. This brother took me to fish the Hillsborough river at Kirby st. and River Shore Dr. in Tampa where I caught my first Bass. Many, many moons.
