Thought I would hit the lake for awhile this morning. Wind was calm and the water temp was 62 deg. The first thing that I tried was the shore line, thinking that they should be moving in closer. I rigged a minnow under a bobber and pitched towards the weeds. It laid there a moment, moved a bit, stood up then went down. I took up the slack, lifted the rod back and the fight was on. Landed a 12 inch gar. moved around some tossing here and there, no luck..
Moved out into the main lake, just past the signs. saw another boat bend a rod, looked good so I set up out there too. As I was moving away to get a drift set a rod goes off And I boat a nice keeper. The rest of the morning all I caught were throw backs. Then the last fish of the day was another keeper. That make enough for dinner. I headed in before the week end crowd showed up. I caught the two keepers on a chartreuse jig.
felt good to bend a rod again.

Been a few weeks for me too Jim, looking forward to my next time out. Sounds like you had a good trip just the same.
