Thought about fishing the Johns Lake FCC tournament, but myson had 9am tee ball practice that conflicted, based on the tourn. resultslooked like a pretty tough day. I worry about launching at Johns because it’sonly a single ramp and a bunch of bass-ers like to fish that lake. That’s why despite my relative proximity Inever fish there.
After tee ball I packed up the boat and headed out for themid-morning bite. Fished from 11:30am-5pm and caught a decent amount of fish, seemed like a fair split between long lined and spiderrigging. Spiderriggingwith mylar jigs minnow tipped, trolling 1/16 jigs with white, chart curly tail2” jigs seemed to do better but nothing stood out. Best 7 fish totaled justover 8 lbs. Slower than it’s been but I had a great time with my boy. Most fishin 12-15 fow, presentation depth was variable. Lost a real nice one, heartbreaker by the boat, he’s still swimming so maybe we’ll get him next time. I don’t have the trolling motor strengthto go against the wind, so when I hit em hard through one area, I can’t getback to them until the next “controlled” drift. So there’s definitely someopportunity for optimization in my attack. Tight Lines
