What lakes are you trying to fish? Day or night?

Try Lake Alford. It's a little north of you. A co-worker told me they caught 35 at night last week. Daylight fishing should produce also.

There's a ton of info to be had! I've found the fishing to be better at night on most of the local lakes! Haines being the best producer for me using minnows under a bobber in 11-13FOW

Rochelle can be decent in the 10 -12 range just a bit southeast of the launch on 17/92. I usually release all the ones caught on Winter Haven chain, something about them just looks "sickly", very pale coloring and some strange looks to them. Lake Julianna isn't far in Auburndale and is a pretty nice lake. Very nice ramp installed there last couple years. I've pulled a couple nice slabs out of Lake Roy, but that was a few years back - I remember it being a deeper lake than the surrounding ones.

A little bit of a drive but Lake Walk in Water in Lake Wales is a good lake. The fishing report in the Lakeland Ledger on Thursday is a good source..

I would check with any nearby bait shops, also according to the ledger newspaper, Lake Howard and Lake Shipp were doing good for specks. I would also drop a line near the canals on lake May.

    Good luck,

when I fish crappie in Illinois I look for brush piles in mid lake on breaks. I usually fish long poll with jigs seldom use minnows.I have only fished daylight on fanney alfreds and cannon. Will they move shallow at some point.

Winter Haven chain is difficult to catch spec's on - over the years -run off
of fertilizer - chemicals - heavy amount of boat traffic daily and weekends.
Most fisherman pass these lakes ...............
Tundah pretty much hit it correctly - fishing lake Rochelle is best of the group.
Lake Hamilton is somewhat close by - has a ramp off highway 27 - it is known
    for some dandy spec's
Marvin mentioned Walke-in-Water east of Lake Wales off highwy 60,
Excellant fishery. Lake Kissimmee is 34,800 acres - good fishery -
Lake Hatchinew just east of Hwy 27 about 20 miles is good lake.
Long-ling on Winter Have Chain is good exercise just to watch sceney. Nothing
will happen - artifical bait - people have thrown just about everyting at them,
nothing new. Bass tournaments on chain all the time - day & night
