A piece of pvc pipe painted fluorescent orange with some reflective tape on it would be better than an iron rod...much safer if someone were to hit it and more visible too. It can be driven into the sand next to the stump.

Man that's a shame Biladelphia....have buzzed all around Jessup & can say it only got me once...someone had ran a trout line shallow on the south east side of Bird island...it was dusk & the old boat was on plane came to a hault followed by a huge V-shaped wave.....only time I've been nervous by self on water with motor tilted cutting line with filet knife out from around prop in gator vested water nonononononononono
Cant think about it, just gotta do it. But there is a few places I would just break off if I cant shake em free. That lagoon tucked in beside the south side of Blue Springs and a few spots up the Wekiva come to mind right off.
I have been across that lake sooo many times and all over the lake and never even thought about hitting something hidden underwater although i have always thought about hitting a gator and WHAMMO it finally happened, always say i need a bigger motor for my boat for more speed but 30-32 mph in my 17 footer is plenty and after this incident i dont think i need a bigger motor as ill be a lil leary to full throttle jessup at first as the thought of hitting something will always be on my mind
[Took the lower unit off mine in river, made me sick. Danbo asked ifin I had boat insurance and dang if I Did, only had to deductible. Never would have thought to check insuranceQUOTE=Billadelphia;3128628]Thought id post this for someone else to not have the same disaster on the lake i had sunday afternoon,Well the son wanted to go for a freezin cold boatride on sunday and as much as i didnt want to go in the freezing cold ,well i took him,UH OOO.First trip acrooss the lake straight from the ramp we proceeded to slam into a HUGE Alligator and well he is no longer with us i imagine,But heres the biggie,as we were on our way in to end the trip we were cruising at 30 mh and the boat comes to a almost complete sudden halt with some carnage noise well i shut it down raise my motor and see that my prop has been completely ripped off along with the guts of the lower unit missing and the entire lower unit cracked in half-COMPLETE CARNAGE-So if your leaving jessup park and take a right and skirt around before you take a right to go around the corner to head towards soldiers creek about 500 yards out there is a really huge tree about 1 foot underneath the water completely non visible so just thought id give a heads up to others so noone else has this experience
ALSO IF ANYONE KNOWS ANYONE WITH SOME PARTS FOR A 1995 MERCURY 40 HP 4 CYL 2 STROKE ANY INFO IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!![/QUOTE]
