All the above good stuff. Im an early bird myself and when I found myself starting to get into hauling minnows, the whole be at the bait shop early stuff got old. Ended up buying a small fish tank pump, $10.00 / grabbing my minnows the late afternoon/early evening before, come home plug in the pump for the night (save any battery powered aerator for lake transport and the boat) and drop a ziplock bag of ice in there during the night. Works like a charm for me, bait always lasts the day with pretty much no loss. Just doing my part in eliminating myself from the line at the bait store :)
Frabil Bait Station / Engel bait stations are the ticket for my needs.

Go to Walmart - in the tropical fish area. Can buy an 110 volt aerator, ($15 -18.00)
than go to automotive div. purchase cheap inverter (18.00) also buy a
battery hookup that will fit inverter. It will have positive/negitive battery clips,
$7.98
Now you have a 110 aerator to keep minnows alive over night or two.
While transporting them -plug inverter into cigarete lighter and plug
you areator into it. run all day without having to go to battery powered
12 volt Mr. Bubbles.
Can, if you wish, take your battery clips with hookup to inverter that is hooked aerator
and run off your big motor battery in boat all day aerating your minnows or with
extra hose and stone, can put in live well and keep is oxygenated - fish will not
die this way.
One cap or just few drop of hydregen proxide in minnow container as well as in your
live well will keep minnows and fish calm.
$4.98 at walmart will get you a tropical fish thermoter - use it in minnow bucket
as well as live well.
63 degree is what most bait shops keep their minnows............
use this as your guide to keep your minnows fresh and frisky -
Say lake temp is 74 allow you minnow water to come up - use ice to try and keep minnows within 5 degree of lake water - shock of to cold or to hot will kill them.
If you plan on keeping minnnows for more than 2 days - be sure to change out
water and replace with fresh well water (not city)

As i said = if you want to ride Sunday, let me know - if it is predicted rain,
i won't make trip - don't have to - lazy, its not a tournament. Can be a couch
spud......make zip jigs, moon jigs etc.
To cover lots of ground, use the push/pull- longline presentation out of the back and push the spiderigged rods. Vary your speed b/w 0.8-1.2 mph. For the pushed rods, use 3/4 oz weights (egg weight with swivel, then leaer), 18" leader with a minnow tipped mylar zip jig or if your doing artificals, a 1/32nd jig head with a curly tail, will also work. For the pulled baits 1/16th oz heads with curly tail jigs with or without minnows. 1/16th roadrunners work well with minnows also. If there is considerable submerged aquatic vegetation, I'll just set out the push lines, becasue I'm always hanging weeds on my pulling lines. Once you have located the fish, use the push presentation and slow down 0.2-0.5 mph with the minnow tipped mylar jigs. Its good times, the combinations to try are endless.
