Default Punta Gorda vacation late Feb early March 2016

Hi, I am planning a week long vacation to see my 83 year old father near Punta Gorda in late Feb or early March 2016. I would like to catch some crappie in that general area if possible. Can anyone send me a personal message of where to try? I will be shore bound but would chip in gas money etc to anyone who is willing to take me out for a half day. Thanks you for your consideration and recommendation in advance. Have a happy holiday.

Not many CdC folks down that way......check with the local bait shops when you get down there...enjoy your vacation and time with your dad!

Ok, this is a crappie forum and all and I get that. But you are traveling to a mecca for inshore saltwater fishing. Forget the crappie and hunt for some snook, redfish, speckled trout and possibly even a tarpon. Enjoy your stay and time with your dad.

Back to top. I really am interested in fishing for a few maybe (large-southern) crappie.

Will probably need to hire a guide out of Clewiston on Big O or find someone in the Everglades. Could always drive Alligator Alley and stop along the way at any promising looking spots and give her a go.

Stop at any of the boat ramps on alligator alley and fish for peacock bass, they should be right by the dock pilings, use a small rapala.
