That's a great story and I know exactly what you mean... One thing I've learned on my few ever trips spider riggin' is: the action is either stone cold, or white hot... There's rarely a "comfortable" pace !!

Spider riggin is new to me, thought I would give it a go.Took seven rods, ended up just using 5. Got on the water at 7am nada until 8am, then all "H" broke loose!
Had 3 on at one time, I must have looked like a Chinese fire drill.
Caught a 21" Bass, with a soon to follow 19" incher, now these are really fun on a 12' rod. About 100 yards away I find the Crappies, caught 25 until 9:30am then nothing. 10 keepers all are over 10" with a 13" and a couple of 12's. Left at 11am had to get home, wifey has plans tonight.
Oh, they are all cleaned, filleted, and in the freezer.

6And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
Spider rigging is a thinking style of fishing. No long coverning water, draggin jigs
on bobbers - various speeds - distance behind boat - colors - blades etc.
Now you are reading your detph finder - checking suroundings - depth - temp,
terrian you are going over. When you get a hit - you automatically check depth,
color of jig - location on lake - surroundings -
Its nothing but fun - challenging - you start thinking, are there more than one
in area of hit -do i move forward or turn and circle through again. Was it a female,
or male -
Glad to see you expanding your fishing skills Marv.
Something just came to mind while reading this. One of the best additions to the front of my boat is the riser for the sonar unit. My eyes found the unit on the floor to be too far for the bifocal and I had to keep bending over to see what the details were. Hi-Tek made the one I use but I'm sure there are others. This is a pic of an old idea, the new one cleaned it up a lot. More pics later, gotta go to work.
