OK, I warned you, this is not about Crappies, but it is a Florida Fishing Report. LOL

Wife and I had made reservations, over a month ago for a couple nights stay, along the Intracostal waters near Venice, Fl. Of course, I had to take my emergency equipment, which included a couple of Bass rods, reels and some lures. Living in Florida, just over a year, didn't really know what to expect as far as fishing there.

Long story shorter, there was a Bridge right across from the motel we were staying at. After some questions, found out that there had been some smaller SNOOK being caught after dark , or early am. Most were using live shrimp or minnows they were netting in a canal nearby. Well, not thinking I would be fishing at night, of course I didn't bring my headlamp!!

First night, I bought a dozen shrimp, found out they are like minners, and an air bubbler works miracles!! Ended up catching my first Snook ever, about a 20 incher, of course released as season isn't open and wouldn't have been in the slot size anyway.

Watch out the next night!! I had found a Rapala floater, and man, did they like that. I stopped counting after catching and releasing 15 snooks! They are acrobatic and FUN! I was lucky enough to be fishing next to a guy who had a headlamp. No Big ones , but for the first time snook fishing, I had a BALL! Most fish were in the 20 to 24" size.

Wife had a great time shopping and being by the pool, and NO RAIN when we were there.

OK, now back to Crappie fishing next week.
