I've been building my crankbait arsenal. I have some bandits, arkie's, strike kings, bps crappie maxx, Johnson's and I have an old rapala broke back that I'm gonna try. I never have fished cranks to speak of but I want to learn a different way to crappie fish especially during summer. Been reading a lot about pushing cranks. I think I have rods to push em with and gonna start out with 2 and 3 oz weights and see how it works. Per Ronnie Capps, I'm gonna need heavier line. All I have is 4,6,8 lb test. Mostly 6 lb. I'm itching to get out! Next weekend hopefully.

Interesting regarding the 2 - 3 oz wgts - for pushing...............
Are you planning on using as a "down rigger" method.?
With cranks you listed most all have a lip on them and will push crank deeper
Spider wire 10 lb should handle most any situation.
Curious, what is length of rods you are going to use, and who is mfg.?

Keep us posted on how your methods are going.........

I plan on using 14' tightline specials. Will see how it performs with a 3 oz weight. I also have some 8.6' depthmaster trolling rods from cabela's that should handle these weights pretty well.
