    Default Grandparent's greatest adventure

    Lake Tarpon,
    Wednesday, April 1st

Water temp. 70.4 degrees, wind out of
    s-sw 3-5 mph, temp at 7am - 64 degrees.
My Grandson (Turner - 15 yrs) commenced
out second fishing trip of his lifetime.
4 yrs ago we went Bobber- gill fishing at
    Lake Thonosassa.
This time out - plan was to Long-line lake
for Spec's. Turner handled situation like
he had done this for years. Set up his
own double hook lines, picked his starting
colors and layed out a long-line pattern
    with 6 micro-lite rods.
We worked 6 - 7 ft contour north end
by weed line- took several gills and few
    small specks.
Moved into north to south pattern working 9 - 11 ft holes and contour
into wind (now up to around 9 -12 mph
out of s-sw) took mostly spec's little
bigger. By now its around 11am, have
changed colors on 3 of 6 rods keeping
    to speed from .9 - 1.1 mph.
Most fish being taken on black/chart tubes, roadrunner Bue Cheese & Yellow
curley tails, Sliders - being sour grape
    & black/chart.
Moved to west side of lake down by
Dolly Bay - working south in 12 - 14' ft
Spec size picked up......at 2:30 made
2 northbound passes over brush piles on
    east side (nothing taken)
    Kept 16 spec's nothing under 13",
thew back 37 gills/spec's -no bass,
    no gar, no catfish.
13 inch spec's weighed in at 13.78 oz,
    14 inch spec's weighed in 15.20 oz
    16 inch spec's made 1 lb 1.5 oz
Believe me there was no finer time or fun
experienced by myself than to watch my
Grandson catch, bring a fish in -and see
the expression in his face & eyes......
It is a look that i will remember rest of
life. Thank the Lord that was able to be
    involved with taken him fishing.
I truely thank with all my heart my Daughter & Son-in-Law for this opportunity to take Turner fishing.

Last time i whitnessed a feeling like this about 40 plus yrs ago in a farrowing
barn when my 5 yr old daughter was involved with a sows first birthing. She
was there to catch the piglet comming out of womb, hold it for cutting of cord
and than shaking piglet to breathe air into lungs and it started to squeal.......
The look on that Girls face will forever be priceless in my mind.
She raised that hog to full term, entered in county fair, won a position and took it
    to State Fair for competition..........

Thanks for sharing your story, I was brought up by my Grandparents, I have them to "Thank" for instilling the LOVE of fishing. It was our form of entertainment back then. The memories, I will never forget and I'm 72 now.

Turner will never forget this day, with "Grandpa" , and to catch fish was just a bonus, believe me I know.

    Regards,
    pescador
