Interesting project AKA I lost my mind

Not planning on any work on the boat till title is in hand. As for the previous owner, he past away 11 years ago from what I was told. The motor is not
locked up and I do plan on getting it going soon, maybe find another boat that needs an 85.

I didn't have to have a title as I stated earlier, but I did have to have a bill of sale from the guy I got the boat from so that I could put a tag on the trailer and get the boat registered here in GA. Different states may have different rules and/or laws.

They do, Florida is a tough one from what I have seen. Florida is a Title state, and without the title the boat is worthless as it cannot be registered for use.

Just a thought...maybe a dealer can apply for a "salvage" title and then sign it over to you. I know wrecker companies do it on car/trucks...so why not a boat

Little over a year later and the boat is gone, never did do any work on it as the title issue was just going to be a huge pain, Fast forward a year and my future brother in law calls me up and asks if I want a boat, he picked it up at auction and has a title, I asked how much and he said come get it, he was tired of trying to get it going, $3 motor fuse and it fired up. Got alot of little things to do, Wiring is trash, fuel lines, and 1 soft spot on the floor but I have a title, and she runs.
