Default SurfSide Florida Vacation......where can I fish for Gills/Crappies during my vacation

My wife has booked our vacation so she can be on the beach. I plan on not spending much time on the beach. I plan on exploring cigar shop/manufacturers but if I wanted to go find crappies or bluegills........Does anyone have a recommendation on where or who is the guide. Will have a rental car so I could even go the 2 hours north to Lake Okeechobee. This trip is booked and no plans to change according to the wife.

    Thanks in advance

Where are you going to be? Not much here for bank fishing. But most of the state parks rent kayaks. Few places around rent skiffs or john boats and some even rent pontoons. But you are going to be driving away from great fishing on the beach. A cheap leave behind surf combo and some terminal tackle will probably cost less than a days kayak rental.

Not sure where you are but if you're near South Bay ( Lake Okeechobee) there is a dock/pier with bait shop etc. great fishing .....don't know much about that area.

If you want to drive to City of Okeechobee - might be able get a hold of guide's names
for you to make contact with. Presently they are taking 10 in plus - single pole jigging
bull rushes, reeds, grass area. Bigger fish being taken in river up around the locks.
Guide costs in this area unknown to me.

Send me a pm if you wish.

I do not like fishing the ocean because I get sea sick so looking for more options
