For scenery....Silver Springs...Silver River...as far as speck fishing not too familiar with the area. Maybe Deaton or Okahumpka.....good luck!

I'm kinda new at this and would like a suggestion or two on where I can go and fish without paddling a long distance (getting to old for that). Some protection from the wind would also be nice since my kayak apparently hates the wind.
Thanks

Griffin Lake State Park is right there by the Villages. And it has a long, protected and real pretty canal that goes out to Lake Griffin. Fishin ain't bad once you get to the other side of the bridge. Before the bridge it seems the water is just too clear, I catch very little before the bridge.
Try launching at pier south of Leesburg and going into Helena Run to Lake Denim, or Pine Island fish camp and go north into the Oklawaha River or try either direction on Haines Creek at Burrel lock. Nearly any direction from The Villages should be a good(short) kayak trip.--shu

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will try Pine Island fish camp this Saturday. Looks like mild weather and reasonable wind.
