Default Slow Day at Tarpon and Vehicle Break in

Well the fiance, the daughter and I finally had the chance to head up to lake tarpon and try and catch some crappie. We put in at Anderson park around 1 and drove down to Tarpon Bait and tackle for minnows. Which gave my 3 year old plenty of time to scream as much as she wanted while we drove (one of her favorite parts since she like all little kids likes to make lots of noise). We wound up drifting minnows in 10-12 feet off the pasture point area. The wind was a bit more than I had hoped and I'm aparently lousy at the open water crappie stuff since despite having 6 baits out at different depths we didn't get a single bite in the 2 hours we fished. Not sure what I need to change in my strategy there. Despite that we had a good trip since my daughters happy to catch minnows and the fiance's just likes being on the water.

When we got back to the ramp our day turned sour though. Found the window of my jeep busted in and my car gone through. Not sure how they picked us since we were the only car hit and I don't ever leave anything good visible in the car. They did find the fiance purse pushed under the seat and made a royal mess of everything. Wound up having to cal the ex wife to get the kid since her car seat was covered in shards of glass and we had to start dealing with all the crap that comes with a stolen purse including the only set of keys to our other car.

The cops said they've been there with as many as 5 trucks smashed so wanted to give everyone else a heads up.

Been fishing Tarpon in excess of 15 yrs, day & night and had never had any problems.
So sorry to hear this..............now must become more and more in defense mode.
    Thanks for "heads up"

Thanks for the heads up. This is a possibility at any ramp. Never leave your purse in the truck, hidden or in plain site. If caught the sentence is light if not probation. Sad group of theives.

A few of my buddies leave nothing of value in their trucks and doors unlocked after dealing with too many broken windows. true scum of the earth right there.

Always something / someone out there to ruin life's good time for everyone.
I had really developed a fond admiration for this ramp - very clean - patrolled -
    just overall well kept.

Just make adjustments to equipment now carrying to / from trk-boat and especally
a night - make sure you partner is in close range but not to close where as both
    can be overtaken..........

Learned fishing some of the very shady saltwater ramps over here. I always make a point to have my wife very visibly carry her purse to boat, openly and very visibly check my wallet for fishing liscense and check cell phones for messages very visibly. Them scumbags generally are around watchin. Sorry it happened to ya though. Hate thieves!!!
