I told Dad to take his time and meet me in the morning and we'd try Monroe for the first time in over a year. He fully took his time getting up and over here...we started fishing around 8:30 a.m. Didn't hurt us too badly and we caught our first fish before we got our third pole in the lake. Landed 45 and kept 20. Also caught 10 small striped bass. Biggest crappie was 15" and a few were 14", but many, many small fish. Gator game was very entertaining, but I wish we would have continued fishing instead of watching that game.

Forgot to add...Black chartreuse tail grub was easily the best bait in the morning, then it became acid rain and white/blue grub until 1:30. The better fish were in 9-10.5 ft of water for us. Not sure if I can get out to fish slabtogether this weekend. But hope this helps those who can.

Man what a great day even with a late start, your dad sure knows how to get the big ones in the boat![]()
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"Crappielover LIKED above post

Ok, I saw a group of boats near the opp when we first arrived...we stayed away from that traffic.
