No "Slabfests" near Lakeland Fl. WAHHHHHHHHHH !!
Hi Guys and Gals,
Old timer here, retired and moved to Lakeland Fl. August 2014. Was hoping to meet some of you folks from this forum, looks like the "Slabfests" are quite a ways from Lakeland.
Also researched fishing from shore in the Lakeland area, there are some places, but the better fishing would be from a boat. Being an "old timer", I was hoping to find a few guys to go fishing with and I would have paid for their gas, bait and whatever, just to go fishing a few times a month.
Well, that didn't happen either, so I'm going to try and find a used aluminum boat suitable for fishing the small Lakes nearby.
If any of you folks on the forum live near Lakeland, and want to go fishing please send me a PM.
Thanks and Regards,
P

As far as bank fishing in Lakeland saddle creek is going to be about the best you can do for that region. Areas closer to Lake Wales and Haines City have more accessible lakes. There is a small fishing pier (Lake Howard) in Winterhaven off of 17 behind the McDonalds that gets hot from time to time but there's not much action to be had without a boat.

There are plenty of reasonable used boats to be had in that area, just check daily on Craigslist and the Lakeland Ledger classifieds and you will find one. Good look on your search.

Thanks Brandon,
I have started looking for a small 2 person boat with small outboard and good electric trolling motor, trailer. Thanks for the heads up about the Ledger, I have been on Craigslist.
Haven't fished for Crappies in over 10 years, always one of my favorites, especially eating! There are so many small lakes within a half hour of me!
Thanks again for your reply.
