    Default Back from Kansas

Back home yesterday from a week of crappie fishing in Kansas. I left here just as the blue gill and shellcracker bite got red hot on the Choctawhatchee River. A few days before I left a couple of buddies almost filled a box with largest bluegills I have ever seen come from the Choctaw
Had a great trip to Lake Wacona at Glen Eder, Kansas. Boxed all the crappie we wanted. I caught walleye, small mouth bass, and wipers...which was a first for me.
Visited and fished with Ron who winters in Destin. We fished Talquin in February.

I understand a wiper is a cross between a white bass and a striper. To me they looked like a striper on first look. I looked at a picture of both to see the difference. Apparently they are wide spread but just not around my neck of the woods. Have read about them but never saw or caught one until last week.

Nice bucket o fish, looks like a great trip !!
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
