    Default Lake Talquin 2/16/2014

It has been almost a month since I have had my boat in the water. I sold my house and have spent the last month tying up loose ends and trying to get moved. Talquin Maggie and I decided that it is time for a Fish Fry and we headed off to Talquin Sunday morning. It was in the low 30's with no wind when we started and warmed up nicely...Beautiful day all day long. We found the fish in the channel and caught fish all day. The smaller fish seemed to bite the best in the morning but the bigger slabs picked up during the middle of the day. We caught around 100 fish from 8:00 to around 3:30 when we quit...and they were still biting!! Hard to leave when the fish are biting but we had plenty of slabs for a good fish fry. Got back to load the boat and found out that a weld had broken on my boat trailer and couldn't load the boat. Jared, at Lake Talquin Lodge, hooked me up with Mike Clark and he was able to make the repair for me. Mike is a local guy and you couldn't ask for a finer man with a super nice family. We finally got back to Talquin Maggies house at 9:30 last night. All in all, a fantastic day!!!

Here is a pic of what we kept to fry up.......................

Great day TnT, glad you were able to get your boat out. Looks like you made up for not being able to make it back to Crescent

Hmmmmm........broken trailer weld, fish still bitin - shoulda celebrated President's Day at Talquin
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"

That was the original plan when I found the trouble with the trailer, but when Mike said he could do it right then we decided to just head on home...Would have been nice to fish this morning but I would have been rushed to get home this afternoon. Sure was good to get on the water!!!

______ fire save on matches. Sounds like a great day on the water. Plenty for that fish fry. I'm heading that way tomorow. The pic filled me with hope.

Heard the bite was the same this morning. I was headed down, but ended up selling my boat this morning. I'm hitching a ride for a while.

I got to quit looking at all these reports. Haven't had time to get down there due to work but plan on taking off Wednesday and get a week in. Looks now like the weather might not be in my favor. However, if I can't fish, can always fix stuff on the camper and sit on the porch and drink a cool one!:
